Solution

Natural polymers

  • Natural polymers are present in nature.
  • These polymers are found in animals and plants.
  • These polymers are formed either by the process of condensation polymerization or by addition polymerization.

Examples of natural polymer

Protein, cellulose, starch, some resins, and rubber are all examples of natural polymers.

  • Proteins: Proteins are polypeptides that are produced when amino acids polymerize.
  • Starch: It is a polymer of alpha-D-glucose that serves as a food store for all plants.
  • Rubber: Rubber is a natural polymer with elastic characteristics. It is also known as an elastomeric polymer. Natural rubber is a polymer of isoprene that is 2-methyl-1,3-butadiene.
