What are Atomic orbitals?

Multiple solutions are possible for Schrodinger equation. Each solution is a unique electron wave (orbital), of specific energy, shape, and orientation. Each of the orbital is denoted by a unique set of three quantum numbers –

  1. Principal quantum Number (n)
  2. Azimuthal quantum Number (l) and
  3. Magnetic quantum Number (ml)
