Question

What are intersecting lines and parallel lines?

Open in App
Solution

Determining the intersecting lines and parallel lines.

Parallel lines

  • Parallel lines were those that don't cross or connect at any point in a plane. These are parallel and equidistant from one another. These are lines that don't intersect and can also be considered to meet at infinity.
  • If two lines would not intersect at any point on a plane, they are said to be parallel. Lines that have no common crossing point and never cross paths are said to be parallel. A symbol for parallel lines is “||”.

Intersecting Lines

  • Intersecting lines were two or more lines that have precisely1point in common. The point of intersection is the common point that occurs on all these lines.
  • These crossing lines meet at one and only one point, regardless of the angle at which they intersect.
  • No two straight lines can intersect at more than one location.
  • Lines that intersect at more than one place are not straight at least one of them is a curve.

Hence, The intersection of two lines is formed when two or more lines in a plane cross one another. Parallel lines are lines on a plane that are often the same distance apart.
