Fossil fuels.

Definition: Fossil fuels represent combustible geologic formations of organic things including dead organic material that have been buried beneath thousands of feet of sediment.

Below are some disadvantages of fossil fuels:

  1. Carbon, nitrogen, sulfate, as well as other oxides emitted by fossil fuels, contribute to acid deposition, damaging the fertility of the soil including drinkable water.
  2. The combustion of coal, as well as petroleum, releases a large number of pollutants into the atmosphere, creating pollution levels.
  3. The combustion of fossil fuels emits gases such as carbon dioxide, which contributes to climate change.
