The tiny pores or openings are found in the leaves of the plant, which permit the exchange of gases.

Functions of stomata in the leaf:

  1. It helps in the exchange of gases within the plants, the outgoing of oxygen, and the intake of carbon dioxide takes place via these tiny pores.
  2. It also helps in monitoring the loss of water within the plants by modifying the size of the stomatal pores.
  3. In the plants, evaporation of water takes place in the form of vapor via stomatal pores present in the leaves during the process of transpiration.
