Algae Bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and viruses are the major groups of microorganisms. These groups of microorganisms, includes both unicellular and multicellular microbes, eukaryotic and prokaryotic microorganisms and both beneficial and harmful microorganisms.

Microorganisms are present everywhere around us. They are found even inside our body. There are a wide variety of microorganisms found in our surroundings, some are found in colonies, while some are found living freely in individuals. Altogether, these groups of microorganisms played a key role in the evolution of the planet earth.
