Properties of ultrasound:

  1. Ultrasonic waves cannot move in a vacuum.
  2. Ultrasonic waves constitute high-frequency, short-wavelength sound waves.
  3. These waves travel at the same velocity as sound in a particular medium.
  4. Throughout homogenous media, their velocity remains constant.

Applications of ultrasound:

  1. Bats utilize ultrasound just to detect obstructions in their route.
  2. Ultrasonography, as well as echocardiography, are methods of visualizing human organs.
  3. Drilling holes through materials such as glass and cleaning small things
  4. Defect detection throughout metals.
  5. Remove cataracts including using SONAR (Sound navigation and ranging) to detect as well as calculate the distance between objects.
