Blood sugar level:

  1. The amount of glucose in the blood is referred to as blood sugar level.
  2. After fasting for at least 8 hours, a normal person should have 100 mg/dL.
  3. Two hours after eating, it should be 140 mg/dL.
  4. Diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterized by abnormally high blood glucose levels for an extended length of time.
  5. Hyperglycemia:
  • When there is a high blood sugar level.
  • Insulin increases glycogenesis and lipogenesis in various body cells thereby reducing sugar levels.

6. Hypoglycemia:

  • When the blood glucose level falls below normal.
  • Glucagon increases it by inducing glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis in hepatocytes.
