Solution

Chemical reaction

  • A chemical reaction occurs when reactants are changed into products or a new substance is formed.
  • During a chemical reaction, the existing chemical bonds of molecules(reactants)break, and new chemical bonds are formed to yield the product.
  • A chemical reaction can be accompanied by physical changes such as precipitate formation, the evolution of heat and energy, or color change and the chemical change is the formation of new products.

Example of a Chemical Reaction:

  • Hydrogen reacts with oxygen to form a water molecule.
  • The balanced chemical equation for the reaction: 2H2(g)+O2(g)2H2O(l)
