What is density with an example

Answer:

The mass per unit volume of a substance is called density.

Density = mass/volume

Arrange the following in order of increasing density – air, exhaust from chimney, honey, water, chalk, cotton, and iron.

Solution :

We can solve this question by keeping this concept in mind that density of solid is more compare to liquid and density of liquid is more compare to gas.

Gas < Liquid < Solid

The given substances in the increasing order of their densities can be represented as:

Air < Exhaust from chimney <  Cotton < Water < Honey < Chalk < Iron
