Solution

Laws of inheritance:

  1. It is proposed by Mendel.
  2. Law of Dominance, Law of Segregation, and Law of Independent Assortment are the three laws of inheritance.
  • Laws of Dominance
  1. Based on monohybrid cross, Mendel formulated the Laws of Dominance.
  2. The law states that only one of two contrasting characters(alleles) present together can express themselves, while the other is suppressed.
  3. The character that is expressed is termed the dominant character.
  4. The character that cannot express itself is known as a recessive character.
  • Law of Segregation
  1. Based on monohybrid cross, Mendel formulated the law of segregation.
  2. It is also known as the law of purity of gametes.
  3. It states that during the formation of gametes, the two members of a pair of factors separate.
  4. They don't mix or blend together; instead, they separate into different gametes.
  • Law of Independent Assortment
  1. It is based on Mendel's dihybrid cross.
  2. When two contrasting characteristics are present, the distribution of one pair's member into the gamete is independent of the distribution of the other pair.
