What Are Non Luminous Objects?

Light is a combination of electrical and magnetic energy which can pass through transparent and translucent objects.Β The objects which do not have its own light is known as non-luminous objects.
Another interesting fact is that mirror is also an example of non-luminous object.

Examples of Luminous and Non-Luminous Objects

Examples of luminous objects are:

  • the sun
  • flame in a lamp
  • tube light
  • electric bulb

Examples of non-luminous objects are:

  • the earth
  • moon
  • a piece of cloth
  • coal

Difference between Luminous and Non-Luminous Objects

Luminous objects Non-luminous objects
Objects that can emit light energy by themselves are known as luminous objects. Objects that cannot emit light energy by themselves are known as non-luminous objects.
These objects can cause the sensation of light. These objects do not cause the sensation of light.
The luminous objects are visible as they emit light on their own. The non-luminous objects are visible because of luminous objects.
The sun and candle are the two examples. The moon and plants are the two examples.
