What is the definition of a food chain, a food web, and a food pyramid?

A food chain describes the feeding relationships of different organisms linearly. This is the simplest way of showing feeding relationships. Food web is a natural network of food chains. It interconnects at various trophic levels to form a number of feeding connections amongst different organisms of a community.

A consumer can obtain his food in different ways. As a result, multiple food chains come into existence in an ecosystem. Different food chains get connected to form a food web.

a food pyramid takes the food chain but uses it to show how energy moves through a community. It is also called energy diagram.
