Septum:

  1. The two sides of the heart are separated by a thin tissue wall called the septum.
  2. The septum is two types i.e. atrial septum and ventricular septum.
  3. The septum which is present between the right and left atrium is known as the atrial septum.
  4. The septum between the right and left ventricles is known as the ventricular septum.

The role of septum:

  1. It forms a barrier in the four-chamber of heart.
  2. It prevents oxygenated and deoxygenated blood from mixing.
  3. In the absence of septum double circulation has not occurred properly.
