Centered unit cell:

  • Body-centered cube is a type of arrangement of atoms in crystal in which atoms are present at the corner of cubes along with the center of cube.

Body-centered unit cell:

  • “Such a unit cell contains one constituent particle (atom, molecule, or ion) at its body center beside the ones that are at its corners.”
  • “A body-centered cubic (bcc) unit cell has an atom at each of its corners and also one atom at its body center.”

Square packed sheets are arranged on the top of each other such that a sphere in the next layer rests on the center of a square in the previous layer it forms a body-centered cubic unit cell.
