Short-sightedness
Short-sightedness (myopia) usually occurs when the eyes grow slightly too long, which means they cannot produce a clear image of objects in the distance. Spending a lot of time focusing your eyes on nearby objects, such as reading, writing, and possibly using hand-held devices (phones and tablets) and computers, can also increase your risk of developing short-sightedness.
Symptoms
- Headaches
- Squinting
- Eyestrain
- Eye fatigue
Treatment
- When you have myopia, your prescription for glasses or contact lenses will be a negative number. The more negative the number, the stronger your lenses will be.
- Laser eye surgery is an option for some people with short sight
- Contact lenses can be used
