Solution
Shifting cultivation:
Shifting cultivation is also known as slash and burn cultivation.
In this type of cultivation, some areas of forest are cleared by cutting and burning them for planting.
The ash provides fertilization for a few seasons in succession.
After some years as the fertility of the soil decreases farmers abandon this area and move to adjacent forest regions.
It is one of the traditional methods of cultivation seen in the tropics of sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America.
