Question

Which part of an electrical appliance is earthed?

Open in App
Solution

Earthing:

  1. The sudden emission or emission of electrical energy that occurs by delivering charges straight to the ground via low resistance wire is called earthing.
  2. The gadget is earthed by connecting it to the ground through an earth wire. If an earth wire is supplied, the current traveling through it to the ground has a very low resistance route, which prevents the individual from suffering a shock.
  3. The metallic body is linked to the ground wire, which offers a low resistance current conducting channel. As a result, any current penetration to the appliances' metallic body maintains its potential to that of the earth, and the user is unlikely to receive a serious shock.
  4. The appliance's outside metallic shell is earthed to avoid the electrocution of anybody accessing the gadget.

Therefore, the outer metallic case of an electrical appliance is earthed.
