The second-longest river Godavari is called Dakshin Ganga or the Ganga of the south. The largest river of Peninsular India is the Godavari. After Ganga, the Godavari river takes the second position lengthwise.

  • There are various pilgrimage locations on the banks of this river, including Nasik, Bhadrachalam, and Trimbak.
  • The largest rail-cum-road bridge in Asia connecting Kovvur and Rajahmundry is located on the Godavari river.
