Solution

Stratified squamous epithelium

  1. The stratified squamous epithelium is a protective tissue that is found in the outer layer of the skin.
  2. Vocal cords composed of yellow elastic tissue are covered by stratified squamous epithelium.
  3. The epithelium that contains squamous epithelial cells that are arranged in layers on a basal membrane is called stratified squamous epithelium.
  4. In this, only one layer is connected to basal membrane while others are connected with each other to maintain structural integrity.
  5. Many cells in this epithelium may not be flattened even though it is known as squamous as the name has been given due to cell type of surface.
