Solution

Riverine soils:

  1. Alluvial soil is also known as riverine soil because they are found in river basins and are formed when streams and rivers slow their velocity.
  2. Alluvial soils are soils deposited by surface water along rivers, in floodplains and deltas, stream terraces, and areas called alluvial fans.
  3. Alluvial soil is vastly present in coastal belts, Ganges delta, Mississippi, Brahmaputra, the Nile, Huang rivers, and also in the Tarai region valley.
  4. Every year due to river floods a new layer of alluvial soil deposits on the bank.
