Why does the charge to mass ratio of anode rays depend on the gas from which it originates?

Anode rays are produced in the discharged tubeon applying a high electrical voltage to the gas which is present in the tube.Theatoms break down into negatively charged particles and positively charged particles. These positively charged particles are anode rays. The nature of anode rays depends on the gas which is taken in the tubeas these rays are produced from thegases present in the tube. The different gases have different types of positive rays,that contain particles of different mass and charge. Therefore, the charge to mass ratio of anode depends on the gas. This ratio is not constant.
