Question

Why is voltmeter always connected in parallel? What will happen if it is connected in series?

Solution

Voltmeter

  1. A voltmeter is a device that measures the difference in electric potential between two locations in an electric circuit.
  2. Voltmeter is connected in parallel because it is used to measure the voltage across two points and the voltage is same in parallel connection.
  3. Voltmeter has a very high resistance so, if it is connected in series then the current will be very small and it would not give proper readings.
