Turning of soil:

  1. This method is also called ploughing or tilling of soil.
  2. It causes loosening of the soil.
  3. It breaks down larger particles into fine grains.
  4. This method maintains the airflow of the soil.
  5. This enhances water and manure absorption by the soil.
  6. It adds humus and nutrients to the soil and increases soil fertility.
  7. It has a positive effect on crop yield.
  8. Hence, there should be periodic turning of soil.
