  • It is the maximum considerable carbon isotope and is used as an atomic weight standard.

Carbon-12 as the reference point for figuring the atomic masses :

  • Six protons, six neutrons, and six electrons make up carbon-12 .
  • There aren't any different nuclides aside from carbon- 12 which have absolute (whole) numbers on this scale.
