  2. It acts as an antagonist to gibberellic acid.
  3. It is also referred to as a stress hormone, as it increases tolerance during stress conditions.

Functions of abscisic acid:

  1. Inhibits the stomatal opening.
  2. Act as a signal to reduce shoot growth (under water stress conditions).
  3. Promote leaf senescence.
  4. Inhibits seed germination and metabolism of the plant.
  5. For dropping of fruits from trees, used as a spraying agent.
