Write a note on gravity.

Every object that has mass exerts a gravitational pull or force on every other mass. The strength of this pull depends on the masses of objects at play. Gravity is what keeps the planets in orbit around the sun and the moon around the Earth. Gravity is a force that pulls a body into the centre of the Earth or some other physical entity having mass.

Gravity plays a significant part in preserving earthly life. The atmosphere is held in place because of the gravitational force between the Earth and the sun and it provides us with the oxygen we need to breathe to live. It also keeps us at a safe distance from the sun, enabling us to enjoy the light and warmth of the sun.

Examples of gravity

  • The gases in the sun are gravitationally bound together.
  • Gravity is accountable for settling water at the bottom, rather than floating at the top of the bottle.
  • Tides in the ocean are caused by the force of attraction between Earth and moo It is an example of gravity
  • Gravity allows the moon to revolve around the Earth.
