Solution

Tissues:

  1. A collection of similarly shaped cells, performing similar function is called tissue.
  2. Tissues are found in plants and animals.
  3. Tissues present in plants are called plant tissue, and tissue present in animals are called animal tissue.

Types of plant tissues:

  1. Plant tissues are made up of a group of cells.
  2. The cells may have a similar structure or dissimilar structure, origin, and function.
  3. This classification of plant tissue systems is based on the parts of the plants that exist.

1. Meristematic tissues

  1. It is formed by the repeated division of cells.
  2. Cells are undifferentiated.
  3. Vacuoles and intercellular spaces are absent.
  4. They comprise apical meristem, intercalary meristem and lateral meristem.

2. Permanent tissues

  1. It is the tissue in which cells do not divide rapidly.
  2. The cells clearly differentiated.
  3. Vacuoles and intercellular spaces are present.
  4. Simple permanent tissues are of three types: parenchyma, collenchyma, and sclerenchyma.
  5. Xylem and phloem are complex permanent tissues.

Types of animal tissues:

1. Epithelial tissue

  1. Epithelial tissue forms the skin’s outer cover that lines the cavity of the body.
  2. It includes the lining of tracts that are respiratory, digestive, reproductive, and excretory.
  3. They perform functions including absorption, secretion, sensation, protection, and secretion.

2. Muscular tissue

  1. Muscular tissue is specialized animal tissue that regulates an organism’s movement.
  2. It has small, elongated cells called muscle fiber.
  3. In the muscle fibers, the cytoplasm is known as sarcoplasm.
  4. It also includes a membrane network called the sarcoplasmic reticulum.
  5. The sarcolemma is a membrane that surrounds the muscle fibers.

3. Connective Tissue

  1. As the name suggests, the tissue supports and binds the various body organs and tissues.
  2. Connective tissue consists of several cells embedded in the intercellular network of collagen or elastin.

4. Nervous Tissue

  1. The main tissue of the nervous system is the nervous tissue that regulates and monitors the body’s functions.
  2. Nervous tissue comprises 2 cells which are named as: Nerve cells or neurons and Glial cells.
