Solution

Chemical Reactions:

  • When two or more molecules combine to create a new product, the process is known as a chemical reaction.
  • Reactants are substances that interact to make new substances, whereas products are those substances that result from the interaction.

Balanced Reactions:

  • An equation for a chemical reaction is said to be balanced if both the reactants and the products have the same number of atoms and the total charge for each component of the reaction.
  • In other words, both sides of the reaction have an equal balance of mass and charge.

In case, when the mixture of Cuprous oxide/ cuprous sulfide mixture is heated:

  • Copper metal is formed as a byproduct when a mixture of cuprous oxide and cuprous sulfide is heated, along with the development of SO2 gas.

2Cu2O(aq)+Cu2S(s)6Cu(s)+SO2(g)CuprousCuprousCopperSulphurOxideSulphideDioxide
