Question

Write the names of isotopes of hydrogen. What is the mass ratio of these isotopes?

Open in App
Solution

Isotopes of Hydrogen:

  • Hydrogen has three naturally occurring isotopes, which are indicated as H11 (Protium), H12(Deuterium), and H13(Tritium).

Mass ratio:

  • The atomic mass of H11 = 1u
  • The atomic mass of H12 = 2u
  • The atomic mass of H13 = 3u
  • Mass ratio = Atomic mass of H11 : Atomic mass of H12 : Atomic mass of H13.
  • Mass ratio = 1:2:3
