Question

Write the SI unit of Resistivity.

Open in App
Solution

Resistivity

The property of a material determines how strongly it can resist the flow of electric current.

The formula of resistivity:

The formula for Resistivity is given by,

ρ=R×AL

Here ρ is the resistivity of the conductor, R is the resistance of the conductor, A is the cross-sectional area of the conductor,

L is the length of the conductor.

SI unit of resistivity.

By putting SI units of these quantities in the formula:

ρ=Ω×m2mρ=Ω×mρ=Ω·m

Thus, SI unit of Resistivity is ohm m (Ω·m)
