SSC CHSL Eligibility 2023

SSC CHSL Eligibility – The criteria for SSC CHSL eligibility is set by the Staff Selection Commission. Candidates must fulfil the eligibility conditions set by the commission to get selected in the SSC CHSL examination.

Every year the SSC (Staff Selection Commission) conducts an annual examination known as Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) to recruit candidates to fill the posts of Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA) and Data Entry Operator (DEO). These posts will form the backbone of the various ministries and departments of the Government of India.

SSC CHSL Eligibility

The Staff Selection Commission will conduct the SSC CHSL 2023 exams in the following stages

  1. Tier I – Objective Multiple Choice Paper
  2. Tier-II – Descriptive Paper
  3. Tier III – Skill Test / Computer Proficiency Test applicable to a few select posts

Eligibility Criteria for SSC CHSL Age Limit

The SSC CHSL age limit for the posts has been set at a minimum 18 years and a maximum of 27 years as on 1st of August 2023, i.e. candidates born not before 2nd August 1996 and not later than 1st August 2005 are eligible to apply for the SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam.

SSC CHSL candidates must satisfy the given nationality criteria in order to attempt the exam:

  • A citizen of India
  • A subject of Nepal
  • A subject of Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st of January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India
  • A person of Indian Origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

SSC CHSL Eligibility – Educational Qualification

The minimum educational criteria to write the SSC CHSL exam is to have passed the 12ths std or an equivalent examination from a recognized university board. The table below gives a detailed insight into the qualification requirements:

      There is no such restriction on the number of attempts, a candidate can only apply for the SSC CHSL exam till the time he/she is meeting the required age limit i.e. between the age group of 18 to 27 years.
