TET stands for Teaching Eligibility Test. It is the qualifying examination for applicants who want to become teachers in public or private schools in various states. The TET exam is conducted at both central and state levels for applicants who want to become teachers at various levels like primary and upper primary.
The guidelines for administering the TET exam were established by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Every year, the Central Board of Secondary Education organizes the CTET exam at the national level, whereas the concerned state authority conducts the TET exam at the state level.
TET Exam
In 2023, the TET exam will be held in various states as well as at the central level so that interested candidates can acquire the certification after passing the exam. TET Exam Pattern
The TET exam pattern elucidates the total questions, total marks, exam duration, and other key details. TET Exam Eligibility
In order to contest the TET exam, candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria. It includes several conditions such as educational qualification, age limit, percentage, etc. Candidates not meeting the prescribed eligibility for the TET exam shall be ineligible. TET Exam Eligibility for Primary (Paper 1)
- Candidates should have passed the Senior Secondary or equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) (appearing candidates are also eligible). OR
- Candidates should have completed the Senior Secondary or equivalent exam scoring a minimum of 50% with a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) (final year candidates can also apply). OR
- Candidates who have completed their Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) are eligible.
TET Exam Eligibility for Upper Primary (Paper 2)
- Candidates should have completed their Graduation securing a minimum of 50% and passed or appearing in the 1st year of B.Ed. OR
- Candidates possessing a degree or appearing in the final year of a 4-year integrated course BSc & B.Ed. or BA & B.Ed. can apply. OR
- Candidates who have passed Class 12 and have completed B.El.Ed. are eligible. (appearing candidates can also apply). OR
