District Topper Chaahat Baghla reveals her secret study tips!

Team StoryWeavers|February 26, 2022, 06:55 IST| 38

This year, a hurriedly convened academic board council had decided to alter the exam paper pattern for the CBSE class 10 board exams  by including 25 percent objective and 75 percent subjective questions. Which means, out of the total 80-mark paper, 20 marks had been assigned to the objective type question, with an aim to reduce the burden of writing lengthy papers. A sudden change like that could throw many students off balance, but not Chaahat Baghla. This 16-year-old from Jalandhar, Punjab, cleared her 10th board exam with 98 percent marks, topping both her school as well as two nearby districts. In her own words, the change in the exam paper pattern didn’t affect her as BYJU’S-The Learning App had prepared her well in advance.

Chaahat’s method of studying and her test preparation schedules will surely help you with your exam preparation as well.

Chaahat’s tips to prepare for the exam:
  1. Prepare for the exam from day one instead of trying to cram and memorise concepts under the wire.
  2. Try to get hold of the concepts first and then practice exercises to get a clear understanding of those concepts.
  3. Make a timetable that suits your routine and adjust subjects accordingly. For example, team up an easy subject with a hard one and so on.
  4. Make sure to strengthen the base of each topic you study by understanding the concepts. BYJU’S app provides a weekly schedule that includes topics that need to be covered in a particular week and practice papers. Tests based on the concepts learned are conducted by the end of that week to help students clear their doubts and understand better.
  5. Biology chapters are lengthy and more elaborate compared to other subjects. Therefore, while studying a topic in Biology, make key points and flow charts. These will come handy just before the exam.
  6. Practise Maths daily for at least an hour. A few concepts in Maths, especially in algebra, involve lengthy derivation of equations. Make sure to be careful while solving the steps of such equations to avoid mistakes.
  7. While you study from the personalised mode of BYJU’S app, use BYJU’S library mode just before your exams to brush up all the topics. The videos in library mode are trimmed down to help you remember the main points of each topic.
  8. Two months before your main exam, practise a lot of sample papers and take mock tests. BYJU’S practice papers are timed and are structured according to the current exam pattern with important subjective and objective questions. Practise these sample papers to increase your writing pace.
  9. Lastly, avoid any kind of exam pressure and take sufficient breaks in between your preparation time.

Chaahat revealed that the BYJU’S method of learning turned out to be very effective for her. “The videos in the app helped me not just to learn the concepts but also understand them. For instance, in Chemistry, while I could read about a chemical reaction, with the help of BYJU’S videos, I could also visualise how that reaction took place and what its consequences are. This method of studying helped me understand the concepts better,” she asserted.

Team BYJU’S are really happy with the excellent performance of Chaahat Baghla and we wish her all the best for her future.
