Plastic Attack
And now let me introduce you to what can be really hazardous material it’s a material that has long lasting devastating impact on our environment so before you actual reach out to buy you should first check if you really really need it. It needs 450 years to just start decomposing and then it takes another 50 or 80 years to decompose completely. Since it was invented less than 450 years ago every single unit of this produced manmade article has not decomposed yet. you might have guessed it I am talking about plastic and plastics burns whole and almost everyone’s pocket, take this plastic bottle for instance about 90 percent of the price you pay for this bottle goes for plastic in this bottle. Our waters are in trouble to because worldwide fishing industry throws huge amount of plastic garbage in this ocean. The amazing 1050 tons goes in the water every year including packaging, plastic lines etc. you name it and it is there. This trash causes caused death of many animals in the sea which actually mistake the garbage for good.
So the estimate says the number of killed animals is over 10 lakh till date. Even on our roads we find cows chewing on the garbage in the process consuming plastic bags as well. Plastic bags is so bad for them it can clog the line in there stomach, choke there respiratory system and kill them. So you cannot burn plastic because synthetic cannot decompose completely on burning, you cannot decompose them so it is best to reduce these use. Stuffs that can be decomposed are called biodegradable. All stuffs made from animals and plants like wool, paper and cotton, vegetable, food peels all these are biodegradable. Things like plastic tin, aluminum for example that are not biodegradable i.e. they cannot be decomposed. Over 13 billion of plastic bags of plastic as produced every year that is around 300 bags per adult and 300 bags in 365 days is too much. More shocks now advocates on environmental friendly cloth bags and some shops even charge you for bags so that you take them only when you need them, it is better to actually to take the cloth bag to the shop. Many countries have realized the impact plastics have on our environment and many of them has band and restricted the use of plastic bags including Australia, China, Austria, Bangladesh, Ireland several EU countries and even some states in India. Type of plastic used for making these bags is called polyethen which gets its name from composition POLY + ETHEN. Plastic comes in so many varieties and arrangements of its monomers is different from its type. In some it can be linear and in some it can be cerise- crossed this is the reason you can easily crunch or crush our plastic bag but you won’t think of crunching or crushing a plastic chair for example. Even you add hot water to a bottle it gets deformed easily. So, plastic which gets deformed or basically gets a weird shape when hot water is added is called thermo plastic. This plastic is easier to bend as well and it comprise of either polythene or PVC. There are another set of plastic called thermo setting plastic examples are beetline and melini. Beetline before you rush into thinking it is used in kitchen lets clear it out, closest it get to cooking is the switch you would get to oven, fridge or may be a stouts. So most of the utensils you handle would be made of beetline because it would not conduct electricity and substances which do not conduct electricity are called insulators.
