Acetamide formula, also named as Acetic acid amide formula or Ethanamide formula is discussed in this article. It is an organic compound with low toxicity. The molecular or chemical formula of Acetamide is C2H5NO.
It is a colourless crystal solid, which has no odour and has a mousy odour. The taste of pure acetamide is bitter. It occurs naturally in red beetroot. In its pure form, it is a crystalline solid white in colour. It is obtained by dehydrating ammonium acetate (C2H7NO2). It can be synthesized with anhydrous acetic acid, acetonitrile, dried hydrogen chloride gas in the presence of a reagent called acetyl chloride.
