Overview of Fatty Liver

Usually, the liver has a small percentage of fat within its tissues, but in this condition, the liver has an abnormal build-up of fat. It can cause complications and can increase the risk of long-term liver damage. This condition is also known as hepatic steatosis.

Usually, this condition can be reversed using a controlled diet, proper exercise, and weight reduction. However, if this condition is not efficiently controlled, it can lead to more serious and life-threatening complications such as liver cirrhosis, liver inflammation, and even cancer of the liver.

Fatty Liver Symptoms

This condition has no obvious symptoms, but if this condition progresses to liver inflammation, the following symptoms are experienced:

  1. Abdominal pain or discomfort
  2. Pain in the upper right abdomen
  3. Fatigue
  4. Weightloss
  5. Loss of appetite
  6. Mental confusion
  7. Abdominal swelling
  8. Reddish palms

In conclusion, fatty liver symptoms are not noticeable, but if the condition progresses to liver inflammation, then the above symptoms start to show up.
