What is CMAT?
Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2022 will be conducted by the National Test Agency (NTA). The CMAT entrance exam was conducted by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) till 2018. The NTA has been conducting the CMAT exam from the year 2019 onwards. CMAT is a national-level exam. The CMAT exam score is accepted by all AICTE approved institutions, universities and colleges. CMAT 2022 will be a 3-hour paper consisting of a total of 100 questions (MCQs). CMAT 2022 exam would be conducted across 124 cities in India. CMAT Exam 2022 Notification was released on the CMAT official website on 16th February 2022. The last date for the online submission of the Application form of CMAT 2022 is 17th March 2022. CMAT 2022 has five sections: Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness and Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
The section on Innovation and Entrepreneurship was introduced in CMAT 2021 as an optional section. CMAT 2022 has seen the changes with the number of questions in each section being reduced to 20 than the earlier 25 and thereby, the number of marks in each section getting reduced from the earlier 100 (25*4) as seen in CMAT 2021 to 80 (20*4) in CMAT 2022.
Important Highlights of CMAT 2022 Exam

CMAT 2022 Key Changes
As per the notification released by NTA, CMAT 2022 has witnessed few changes. Though, Innovation and Entrepreneurship was introduced in CMAT 2021, it was an optional section. However, CMAT 2022 consists of five sections – Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. CMAT 2021 consisted of 25 questions section-wise. But CMAT 2022 will consist of 20 questions per section
CMAT 2022 Important Dates
As per the notification released by NTA, CMAT 2022 online application process has started from 16th February 2022. Candidates can fill the online form till 17th March 2022. Candidates are required to pay the online fees by 18th March 2022.

CMAT 2022 Exam Pattern
CMAT exam 2022 is a Computer-Based exam. CMAT 2022 will consist of 100 MCQ questions spread across five sections. Each section will have 20 questions. Each question carries 4 marks. There is a negative marking of 1 mark for every incorrect response. The total mark for CMAT 2022 is 400. CMAT 2022 will be conducted in 2 shifts across 124 cities.

Candidates have 180 minutes to complete the CMAT exam. The medium of the exam will be English. Unattempted questions will not be given any marks. In case a question is dropped due to a technical error, all the candidates will get full marks irrespective of whether they had attempted it or not. CMAT 2021 had 25 questions in each section which has been reduced to 20 questions in each section in CMAT 2022 and the Innovation & Entrepreneurship section which was optional in CMAT 2021 is now a compulsory section in CMAT 2022.
CMAT 2022 Syllabus
The CMAT Exam Syllabus is not prescribed on the CMAT official website. However, based on the previous year’s question papers BYJU’S Experts have curated the list of the topics from which the questions have been asked in the past years. It is important to note that the section Innovation and Entrepreneurship has been added in the year 2021 as an optional section. However, CMAT 2022 also consists of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship section. The CMAT syllabus section-wise is discussed below:
Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation
This section will consist of 20 questions in CMAT 2022 exam. However, earlier in CMAT 2021 this section had a total of 25 questions. The level of difficulty of this section is Moderate. Based on CMAT 2021 it was seen that this section was dominated with questions from Arithmetic (9-10 questions).

Logical Reasoning
This section consists of 20 questions. However, till CMAT 2021 this section had 25 questions. All questions will be MCQ-based and each correct response will get +4 marks. The level of difficulty of this section is Moderate. The Logical reasoning section consists of 3 parts i.e. Analytical Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Innovation & Entrepreneurship
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship section was added to CMAT in the year 2021. However, in CMAT 2021 this section was optional and consisted of 25 questions. Candidates who attempted this section were given additional 30 minutes. However, CMAT 2022 will consist of 20 questions in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship section. The questions asked in this section in CMAT 2021 were mostly GK-based.
CMAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates appearing for the CMAT exam must be aware of the eligibility criteria before registering for the CMAT entrance exam. It is important for candidates writing the CMAT exam to check the CMAT Eligibility Criteria. The CMAT eligibility criteria include the educational qualification criteria, age criteria, and the eligibility criteria in terms of nationality. The following are the CMAT eligibility criteria:
- Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
- Candidates in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree can also apply
- There is a restriction on the basis of age
- Candidates need to be an Indian Citizen
CMAT Registration Process
The CMAT 2022 Registration process has commenced on 16th February 2022. The last date of the online CMAT application form 2022 is till 17th March 2022. The CMAT 2022 Application form window will close on 17th March 2022 at 11:50 PM. CMAT 2022 exam dates are yet to be notified. Candidates need to pay the CMAT exam fees 2022 by 18th March 2022 (11:50 PM).
Candidates need to follow the steps given below for CMAT Registration:
- Candidates need to register for the CMAT 2022 exam using their valid email id and phone number
- Candidates need to fill in their personal details, educational qualification, contact number and other basic information asked at the time of registration
- Candidates need to then upload their picture and signature
- Once the candidate has uploaded and provided all the necessary information, they are then required to make the payment of the application form

Candidates can submit the CMAT 2022 Application fees through Netbanking, Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI or Paytm Services. The Processing and GST charges will be charged in addition to the CMAT exam fees by the Bank/ Payment Integrator.
