The full form of CMAT is the Common Management Admission Test. CMAT is a national-level exam conducted annually by NTA (National Testing Agency). CMAT 2022 is a 3-hour paper that will be conducted in two shifts. The CMAT exam pattern 2022 has changed from the previous year’s, i.e. CMAT Pattern 2021. As per the NTA, CMAT exam Pattern 2022 will consist of 5 sections – Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Language Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, General Awareness and Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.

CMAT exam 2022 consists of a total of 100 questions with 20 questions in each section. The number of cities hosting CMAT tests has increased from 109 to 124. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship section in the CMAT exam was introduced last year in CMAT 2021. The section in CMAT 2021 was, however, optional for the candidates to attempt.

As per the CMAT exam pattern 2022, the paper will consist of 100 questions. The duration of the CMAT exam 2022 is 180 minutes. The candidates are required to get familiar with the CMAT exam pattern before starting their preparation. The CMAT is a Computer-Based Test (CBT). CMAT Exam Pattern (Section-wise)

The CMAT exam consists of 5 sections. The section on Innovation and Entrepreneurship was introduced in the CMAT exam in 2021 as an optional section. The section-wise CMAT paper pattern is given below:

The CMAT Question pattern will be MCQ based questions. Candidates must familiarise themselves with the CMAT exam pattern and CMAT syllabus in order to score well in the CMAT exam. The CMAT exam will be conducted in English medium.

CMAT Exam Marking Scheme

The CMAT exam will consist of 100 questions in total. Each section carries equal weightage. Each correct question will be rewarded with +4 marks, while each incorrect response will attract a negative marking of -1. Unattempted questions will not be awarded any marks. Candidates need to note that every question will have only one correct response. If a question is dropped due to a technical error, all the candidates will be given full marks irrespective of whether they have attempted it or not.

Changes in the CMAT Exam Pattern

  • For CMAT 2021, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship was an additional fifth section with a time duration of 30 minutes and was optional for candidates. However, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship section has been made compulsory for CMAT 2022 as per the latest notifications and changed paper patterns. The section consists of 20 questions carrying 80 marks.
  • Instead of the former 125 questions, the CMAT exam now comprises five sections, each with 100 questions.
  • The number of CMAT exam sections has increased from 4 to 5. Previously, the percentile was calculated without taking the 5th section’s score into account. For CMAT 2022 percentile calculations, the 5th section results are now made mandatory.
  • The number of questions in each section has been reduced from 25 to 20.
  • Students were given a time bonus of 30 minutes for the optional section. For CMAT 2022, candidates will not receive any additional time.
