Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) is a premier medical institute in India recognised as a centre of excellence for education and research. AFMC provides training for undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing students with assured career prospects in defence services.

The college offers two UG courses – MBBS and B.Sc. Nursing. The college offers PG courses in various specialisations with MD and MD/MS degrees, in addition to M.Sc. Anatomy and Master in Hospital Administration. Apart from UG and PG courses, the college also offers PG Diploma courses and several special super courses.

April marks the beginning of the UG course application process. The application process for Super Specialty and Postgraduate programmes starts in July and September, respectively. Applicants must complete the AFMC application form, which may be downloaded on the Institute’s website, to get admitted to these courses.

To be eligible, an applicant must be an Indian citizen, a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan, or a person of Indian ancestry who relocated to India from Pakistan or another foreign nation intending to stay in India permanently. The applicant must be single. Marriage is not permitted during the course in AFMC.

The college has a standard intake of 130 students for MBBS, out of which 105 seats are reserved for boys and 25 for girls. Eligibility: The candidate must pass 12th in the first attempt with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English. Candidates should also have an aggregate score of a minimum of 60% in PCB. Must have an adequate score to pass NEET (134 – Unreserved and 107 – Reserved)

B.Sc. Nursing

Duration of the course: 1-3 years

The speciality in the course: Basic, Post Basic, Operation Room, Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation, Oncology, Cardiothoracic, and Neonatal.

Eligibility: Must pass 10+2 on the first attempt in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The aggregate score should be at least 50%. They must also pass the AFMC Nursing exam. Only female candidates can apply.

Speciality in the course: ENT, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology.

AFMC Pune Admission

  • Admission to MBBS is granted based on NEET-UG.
  • The B.Sc. Nursing candidates must fill out the AFMC application form to appear for the AFMC entrance test.
  • Admission to all PG courses is through NEET-PG, and the application process starts in September.
  • Admission to Super Specialisation programs such as DM and M.Ch. is awarded based on NEET SS.
  • Admission to PhD is based on an entrance exam conducted by AFMC.
  • Admission to BPMT and Technical Trade Training courses will be based on merit, followed by marks obtained in the AFMC entrance examination.

  • The candidates should appear for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) to be eligible to apply for counselling.
  • To apply for NEET, students must download the application form available on the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and fill in the details as per the instructions provided. Candidates must be very careful while filling the application as no changes can be made after submission, and candidates can submit only one application.
  • After the announcement of NEET dates, students will have to apply for counselling by registering on the website of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
  • Admission will be based on the NEET score and interview scheduled by AFMC.
