What was New in GATE 2022?
- In 2022, the authority added two new papers for the GATE exams. Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture, and Geomatics Engineering, are the two new papers introduced for the first time in the GATE Exam.
- GATE 2022 eligibility criteria have been extended to include any candidate who has already completed any government-approved degree program in Engineering/ Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts. Explore GATE Eligibility Criteria for more details.
- Leh (Ladakh) was added as a new GATE 2022 examination city.
- Changes have been made to the GATE 2022 AR Exam pattern.

Due to the rise in covid cases in the country during March 2022, two petitions were filed on the issue – one by the students/candidates appearing for the GATE Exam, but the Supreme Court refused to postpone the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering exam, 2022. However, travel passes were released for the candidates appearing for the GATE 2022 examination by IIT Kharagpur so that candidates do not face any problems while travelling since there were covid restrictions during the time.
