GATE Examinations have been conducted for 29 disciplines, since 2022. Two new papers — GE (Geomatics Engineering) and NM (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering), were introduced taking the total number of GATE papers to 29. In 2020, Humanities and Social Science (XS) and Environmental Science and Engineering (ES) made for 27 subjects. Now, you have to only opt for one or two papers out of the 29 papers or subjects that are available. For your convenience, we list all the GATE subjects in this article below.

If you are opting for two subject papers, you must have a primary choice of paper, which is the default paper for the subject chosen and the second choice of paper, selected from the allowed combinations mentioned.
