Know About GATE Exam?

This is a national-level computer-based test of 3 hours duration, also known as the Graduate Aptitude Test of Engineering. Apart from M.E/ M. Tech programmes, the exam also allows for direct PhD admissions to IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology), NITs (National Institutes of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology) and other institutes/universities across India. There are a total of 65 questions in a GATE paper, and it amounts to a total of 100 marks, consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and/ or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions.

What is the CAT Exam?

CAT(Common Admission Test) is an entrance exam for MBA admissions, also providing a gateway of admission to 20 IIMs and other B-Schools in India. The CAT question paper constitutes 100 MCQs from Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Ability.

GATE or CAT, Which Is Better?

Now that we have established what is GATE and CAT, the question perplexing the candidates is, which is better- GATE or CAT? Candidates appearing for GATE exams have to be more proficient with questions related to technology and various branches of Engineering for best results. In the meantime, the CAT question paper is likely to constitute more verbal analysis, logical reasoning and so on.

Thus, we can say it is challenging to say entirely if GATE or CAT is better. It depends on the candidate and the avenue they wish to pursue further for higher studies or careers. Based on their preference and interests, they can estimate GATE or CAT, which is better for them. We can also not say if one is more accessible or tougher. This also depends on the candidate’s skills or ability. Thus, this conclusion would be that it is not fair to compare GATE VS CAT, as both are competitive exams used for entirely different purposes.
