The full form of UGC-NET is the University Grants Commission -National Eligibility Test. It is an eligibility test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges.Â

Application Form Filling Process
The registration form for the UGC NET June Cycle 2023 is available from 10th May 2023 to 31st May 2023.
Step 1: Go to the official website of UGC.
Step 2: The UGC NET Application Form will appear on the screen.Â
Step 3: Carefully fill out all of the needed information (personal and educational details) in the UGC application form.
Step 4: Candidates are then asked to upload their scanned photographs.
Step 5: Once the photograph has been attached, a message with the application number will appear on the screen.
Step 6: Then, applicants are needed to make the fee payment.
Step 7: Once the payment is complete, print the Application Form 2023 for future reference.
Candidates should also download and install the SANDES app for important messages from NTA and time exam-related updates.

UGC NET Exam Reservation Details
UGC NET follows the reservation policy of the Government of India in universities and institutes at the central level. Candidates from various categories will be eligible for the following percentage of reservations for seats at various Central Universities under this reservation policy:
- 15% of the seats for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.Â
- 7.5% of seats Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
- 27% of the seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) candidates as per the Central List,
- 10% of the seats for General-Economically Weaker Sections (General- EWS) candidates.
- 5% of the seats in the above-mentioned categories for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) with 40% or more disability.

UGC NET Admit Card
The Admit Card would be issued provisionally to the candidates of UGC NET June 2023, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria. The candidate has to download the Admit Card from the NTA website and appear for the Examination at the given Centre on the date, shift, time and discipline as indicated in his/her Admit Card. UGC NET Marking Scheme
- All questions in Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the UGC Net exam are compulsory to answer.
- Candidates will receive two marks for each right answer in both examinations.
- There is no penalty for wrong choices.
- There will be no credit for questions that are left blank or unanswered.
- If a question is missed, the marks for that question will be granted to all applicants.
- If a question is found to be wrong or unclear, candidates who marked the correct answers will receive the specified marks for that question.
- The candidate belonging to the General category needs to secure at least 40% aggregate in both the papers taken together and at least 35% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together for the candidates belonging to the Reserved category (SC, ST, OBC, PWD, Transgender) to be considered for Assistant Professor or JRF.
UGC NET Subject & Subject Codes
The UGC NET exam comprises two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. The syllabus for both papers is completely different.Â
UGC NET Paper 1 is common and mandatory for all candidates. However, UGC NET Paper-II is a subject-based paper.
The subject for paper 2 is chosen by the candidate. Candidates need to appear in the subject of their Post-Graduation only.Â

Exam Day Instructions
Candidates must go through some of the important exam day instructions before appearing for UGC NET 2023 exam. They are:
- The candidates shall report at the Examination Centre two hours before the commencement of the examination so as to complete the frisking and registration formalities well before time.Â
- The registration desk will be closed 30 minutes prior to the examination.Â
- Candidates shall not be permitted to enter in the Examination Centre after 8.30 am in First Shift and after 2.30 pm in Second Shift.Â
- Candidates are also advised to report at the Examination Hall/Room in the Examination Centre by 8.45 am in the First Shift and by 2.45 pm in the Second Shift.Â
- The candidates are advised to read the instructions on the Admit Card carefully and follow them during the conduct of the examination.
Documents to carry to the exam centres
Candidates must bring the following documents to the Test Centre:
- Â A printed copy of Admit Card that was downloaded from the NTA website.Â
- One passport-size photograph for pasting on the specific space in the Attendance Sheet at the Centre during the Examination.Â
- Any one of the authorised photo IDs – PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/ Aadhaar Enrolment No/ Ration Card).Â
- PwD certificate issued by the Competent Authority if claiming the relaxation under the PwD category.
