Pandita Rambai broke many stereotypes through her social activism and championing of women’s rights and education. Despite being born in a high-caste household she got herself educated and used her privilege to spread education for women, particularly those who were widows or child-widows.
The prevailing stereotype was that women could not survive on their own and they needed a male figure in their lives to guide them. But Pandita Ramabai showed that by educating women, along with the ability to read and write, women could become economically independent without any efforts. This would definitely help widows who were without a support system as society shunned them instead of caring for them
