India has about 46 wetlands. The largest is the Sundarban wetlands of west bengal which is 4230 sq kms. Four wetlands have recently been recognised under the 1971 Ramsar Convention on Wetlands. They were Thol and Wadhwana from Gujarat and Sultanpur and Bhindawas from Haryana,
