Mangroves are a group of trees and shrubs that live in the coastal intertidal zone. Mangroves grow along the coasts in the salt marshes, tidal creeks, mudflats and estuaries. Mangrove forests grow near the equator(tropical and subtropical latitudes) because they cannot withstand freezing temperatures.
