The Great Indian Bustard is not extinct in India but has been placed in the critically endangered list by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
The Great Indian Bustards rapidly declining numbers can be attributed to the rapid destruction of its habitat. At the moment there are about 110 species of the Great Indian Bustard left in the wild
