What is meant by the words Paleolithic and Neolithic?

In Greek, lithos means “stone” and “Paleo” is old. Thus, Paleolithic means “Old Stone” or “Old Stone Age”. Similarly, “Neo” means new, hence Neolithic means “new” or “late period” of the Stone Age.
