The main purpose of in-situ conservation is to enable biodiversity conservation within the same ecosystem it belongs to.In-situ management approaches can either be targeted at populations of selected species (species-centred) or whole ecosystems (ecosystem-based).
One benefit of in situ conservation is that it maintains recovering populations in the environment where they have developed their distinctive properties
